When I speak with residents in Kanata Lakes, I know that top of mind is the golf course development. I have already demonstrated as your City Councillor, with a unanimous motion passed at City Council in opposition to any development on the golf course lands and zero tolerance for any contravention of the original 40% agreement, that I am 100% with you. I have worked with the Kanata Greenspace Protection Coalition (KGPC), to outline all of the steps, hurdles and roadblocks in place to ensure it is not developed.
Kanata Lakes residents are concerned with the state of their pathways, the speeding in the community and the vitality of Centrum. They look forward to the Centrum LRT stop, but want better local bussing. They are happy with the Mosquito Program and were very happy to read the report that indicated that the company doing the spraying was using a spray that was not harmful to any of the other wildlife that thrive in the many natural places all throughout Kanata Lakes. The Kizell Pond trail system is well used by Kanata Lakes residents and they want to make sure their pathways connect up to the paths to Beaverbrook, the Richcraft Center and right up to the South March Highlands trails. They want their boulevards cut, their pathways plowed and Bill Teron Park kept intact for all to enjoy, as the new Official Plan ensures.
Kanata Lakes residents are community minded. They support their KGPC, their Kanata Lakes Community Association and the Kanata Central BIA. I meet with all three amazing groups every month and look forward to continuing those connections for the next four years.
