Arcadia is one of Kanata North’s newest neighbourhoods. They have benefited from the development charges charged to builders to ensure that their neighbourhood came with parks, sidewalks, road signs and much more…instead of the city having to put those things in afterwards. Arcadia residents like to be outside enjoying their parks and pathways to the natural Carp River floodplain area. However, Arcadia has been so popular and is growing so fast, its residents are already counting down the days for their new park to be built. They are very closely connected on the Arcadia Facebook group, but are ready to really get going with a Community Association that will connect them to the surrounding neighbourhoods’ Associations so that they can run more events for the high number of families with children to get to know each other and their community’s needs better. Arcadia will continue to grow across Campeau Drive now that they can all enjoy that road connection to Centrum and back to the Tanger Outlets. With many more stores and services to come all around the outlets, the widening of Huntmar and the redesign of the Huntmar bridge across the 417 has to include safe lanes for walking and cycling to Stittsville and Kanata South. While the changes to the Canadian Tire Centre are many years away, Arcadia residents want to be involved in the consultation for what might take its place.
They await stage three LRT, but want buses right now that run internal to Arcadia and Kanata North until the LRT is built. Bussing right now, due to COVID’s impact on route viability, is minimal to the area. As we put buses back on the road, Arcadia residents want them there.
